San Luis Obispo Wedding {Nicole + Keith}

A celebration indeed! I worked with Keith back in the day, pouring wine and doing projects around the vineyard. His family is the owners of one of the best wineries in SLO County, Kelsey See Canyon Vineyard. Mix some damn good wine with a place like the spacious and natural La Cuesta Ranch, and you’re set for a good time. Nicole was gorgeous and stress fee the whole day, as a bride should be. The night ended with the boots hitting the barn floor to some live local music!

Terra Mia Wedding – Paso {Stephanie + Chris}

Details about this dreamy day are below, but I’m going to start with a story that had me tearing up each time I told it. Stephanie’s father had passed away between the time we had done her and Chris’ engagement photos and their wedding. From the words spoken throughout the night, and the way they honored him you could see the family’s love for him. He sounds like a good man. Stephanie’s mother wrote to me after viewing their wedding day photos, and said she had to tell me a story. She wears a butterfly wherever she goes to remember her husband and to know he is with her. It is the symbol of his presence for the whole family. When shooting the image below I didn’t see this little visitor, but he was there on the final photo. Stephanie’s saw the photo and her reply was simple and sweet…

” I guess I got my father daughter photo after all.”

I am always honored when a couple asked me to capture their wedding day, but it is the intimate stories like this that truly bring joy to my soul, and a greater appreciation for my career. You all are lovely people and it was my pleasure to be there to capture it! Much love. – Jay

So…. what a dreamy day! Stephanie and Chris strolled around with a relaxed and joyful demeanor allowing for a natural, candid day of capture. Their venue was the stunning hidden oasis of Terra Mia Vineyards. Live acoustic tunes from legendary Dan Curcio floated over the venue during the day then rocked the party till the last dance. Field to Table was doing what they do best, making people happy with delicious passed hors d’oeuves and finishing up with plated entrees, and Slo Donut Co. topping it off for dessert. Flowers by Kim made an elegant appearance with all white bouquets, and the woman behind the curtain making it all seamlessly happen… Sandcastle Celebration. Dream team!

Santa Barbara Wedding {Haley and Scott}

Scott has been a close friend of mine for many years now. Amongst our group he has always been the one to give the most, and think of others’ well-being before his own. He deserves more than any of us can give, that is except for Haley. She is the young grasshopper to the Sensai, Dodger to his blue, love to his life…. she is good for him! Being the humble folk they are, they held an intimate wedding in Santa Barbara. The ceremony was at the Historic Santa Barbara Courthouse. As family and guests headed over to cocktail hour, they snuck up to the bell tower for the panoramic views of the city, then strolled through the streets alone to their reception. The celebration continued on the cozy rooftop of the Canary Hotel. Congratulations guys, love you both!

Santa Barbara Wedding {Lauren + Tony}

Lauren and Tony were part of an amazing group of friends, many of whose weddings I have been capturing over the last year or so. These two are one good looking and classy couple who know how to celebrate. Lauren confidently donned her grand, blush dress from the one and only Miss Haley Paige, while her bridesmaids surrounded her in white. The scene was set at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, which, despite its slightly boring name, is very enchanting. Every detail was perfect. The rose gold rings, lush floras, leaf wreaths for the ladies, family style dining, and créme brûlée in the evening. Oh, and they rocked out to one of the best live bands I’ve heard at a wedding. Amazing night!

Tiber Canyon Ranch Wedding {Jessica + Sean}

These two and their crew know how to have a good time! They met in college working at Mother’s Tavern and celebrated their marriage vows back on their old stomping grounds in San Luis Obispo. They were married down a little hidden road, where you can find the beautiful Tiber Canyon Ranch spread out under the trees. They committed themselves under an oak clearing, dined family style, and danced like they meant it. The decor of soft pinks, greys, and greens married perfectly with the surroundings. Fun night, fun couple!

Pepper Tree Ranch Wedding {Kendra + Garrett}

Kendra and Garrett’s wedding was a beautiful mix of modern and traditional. It was held at the amazing Pepper Tree Ranch in San Luis Obispo, surrounded by mountains, vineyards, pristine ponds, a huge barn, and a sunset tree house! They have an abnormally large family with an incredible amount of talent and skills. Cousins were catering, dad made the bar and table tops, aunts did the florals, and the list goes on. A genuine a sweet couple to the core. What a fun night of true celebration of marriage. Thanks guys, for letting me be a part of it!

Andrea + Andrew {Lago Giuseppe, Templeton, CA}

Andrea and Andrew were married and the magical Lago Giuseppe Cellars surrounded by lots of family and old friends. Andrea’s lace dress had beautiful florals stitched into the front and back. There were hints of rosemary in the decor, complimented by the bridesmaid’s dresses in soft sage. And these guys know how to celebrate! Dad broke out the good scotch, custom desserts, bon fires with s’mores, and good times late into the night. Thanks again guys for the fun day!

Tracie + Travis {Elopement in Morro Bay CA}

The fun and excitement of celebrating a marriage with a large wedding is an amazing thing, but there is something to say about the intimacy of a quiet marriage on an empty beach with your family. Tracie and Travis were wed in Morro Bay with their parents and dear friend officiating. They followed it up with a boat ride and champaign all around. They kept the news quiet and decided to make their honeymoon a 2 month trip across the U.S.A. to personally tell friends and family. So cool!!! This is a lovely couple with thoughtful hearts… They even mailed me a selection of loose leaf tea (my favorite), as a thank you. Truly a refreshing day! Thank you guys for letting me see the beauty in simplicity.

This wedding hit close to home because the venue Kevin and Aimee chose was also where my wife and I were married 4 years ago, Spanish Oaks Ranch. Matthew + Ashley {Thousand Hills Ranch, SLO, CA}

How fun is it to photograph your own cousins wedding? It’s awesome. You have all your family there, you’re doing what you love, and truly celebrating the bride and groom. These to had such a beautiful and carefully planned wedding. They had hints of “Lord of the Rings” tied into their decor. Delicate, yet rich florals with dahlias and eucalyptus.
